11/10/2023 0 Comments Playon alternativeThis Note’s proposals do not constitute an overhaul, but rather an acknowledgement that FIFA must continue to adapt as soccer flourishes in terms of popularity and wealth. While FIFA rightly prides itself on the success of its legal regime, there is room to improve. Not only would such reforms strengthen the stature of FIFA’s legal regime, but they would also better inform soccer-related actors of their rights and obligations under FIFA’s governance. More specifically, this Note proposes the adoption of a Players’ Bill of Rights and two amendments to the FIFA Statutes concerning arbitration. This Note maintains that FIFA’s legal regime should continue to exist in its current structure, but also argues that moderate reforms would improve the efficacy and legitimacy of its institutions and relationship with the Court of Arbitration for Sport. and a personalized path so you can track your progress and play on your own time. On the other hand, if PlayOn Desktop finally resolves its technical issues with DirecTV Now, then the DTVN/PlayOn combo is the ideal solution. FIFA’s legal regime mostly functions as intended, though it is also subject to criticism as it supplants domestic court systems and their jurisdiction over potential contract and labor law disputes. Woman learning alternative music on ukulele with Fender Play level 3. While it's the only viable alternative at the moment, because of DTVN's 20-hr. FIFA’s internal institutions and the Court of Arbitration for Sport serve to resolve legal disputes resulting from dealings in the transfer market. This marketplace is the forum where clubs swap players and money in sometimes-complicated transnational business transactions. Soccer is now a global business, largely due to the economic might of the transfer market. This is a considerable undertaking, which FIFA achieves through its comprehensive system of alternative dispute resolution. FIFA shoulders the burden of regulating soccer’s member associations, national teams, clubs, players, and countless other personnel through its FIFA Statutes. Yet, FIFA’s role in the sport of soccer extends well beyond what receives the most commercial attention. Rather, and understandably so, sports fans and commentators tend to focus on World Cups, corruption, or even the FIFA video game. Few associate the Fédération Internationale de Football Association, or FIFA, with its legal regime. 11/10/2023 0 Comments Persona 4 golden ostIf you prefer a designed dungeon to a randomly generated crawler, you'll like what 5 has to offer in this department. Some of the mechanics and puzzles also just kind of suck, but hey. As a downside, the game fully does not trust you to solve puzzles or notice things in the world alone, so be prepared for a long cutscene panning over every important object + your party's commentary every time you enter a new room. On the plus side, that means they look incredible, and they have lots of varied mechanics and puzzles. They're not long dungeon crawls anymore, they're fully laid out dungeons. I don't mean that as an insult to 5's style of dungeons, they're just not really the same thing. Persona 5 has bespoke animations for so many little interactions (honestly maybe to the point of excess) and stuff you mentioned like the menus just being extremely polished and stylish.Īs far as gameplay goes, the dungeons are. This is a must-buy for Persona 4 fans. You're gonna notice a lot more little details. I can’t wait to hear all of this music in context, so I can fully appreciate how it adds to the game’s richly emotional atmosphere. Once again, my high expectations for a Persona album have been exceeded. Seemingly out of place is the entirely chiptune “Shin Mitsuo Tensei,” an 8-bit remix of the boss theme “I’ll Face Myself.” For those who have played the original game, however, its inclusion makes perfect sense, and I look forward to seeing how it’s integrated into Persona 4 Golden. The background instrumentation is solid, but I couldn’t help but cringe every time the female vocalist hit a high note. If there is a weak link on this album, it’s “True Story,” a poppy song with gratingly high-pitched singing. It’s powerful stuff that proves the composers’ mastery of conveying emotion through music. “Maiden of the Empty Forest” starts off with crushingly forlorn piano, but by the end of the song, the listener is lifted up with hope. “Snowflakes” is a melancholy vocal piece with a sense of bittersweet finality, of grey skies and reluctant goodbyes. Songs like “Let’s Go To The Beach,” “Everyday Sunshine,” and “A Sky Full Of Stars” are wonderful at evoking the kinds of feelings brought on by spending time with cherished friends. The lyrics are very catchy, too, putting the song on equal footing with the iconic “Reach Out To The Truth.” I immediately fell in love with the new battle theme, “Time To Make History.” Its fast-paced bass riffs and energetic drums amp the listener up and are sure to keep his blood pumping until he vanquishes whatever enemy stands in his way. The steady percussive backbeat and passionate vocals do an excellent job of welcoming the listener back into the world of Persona 4. The new opening theme, “Shadow World,” is a peppy piece led by the harmonica, an unusual but effective instrument that lends the song a nostalgic quality. Despite the fact that it was composed by two different musicians (about half by Shin Megami Tensei veteran Shoji Meguro, and half by Atsushi Kitajoh), the soundtrack for Persona 4 Golden is surprisingly consistent and fits in perfectly with the game’s existing music. Luckily for fans like me, the upcoming PlayStation Vita version of the game features a glut of new content, which of course includes new music. It’s easily one of my all-time favorite games, with a gripping story, lovable characters, and great music to boot. ETA says the annual award "is presented to an individual for outstanding service to electronic technicians as a certification administrator, board of director’s office, state representative or subject matter expert on the ETA advisory board for the past year."Ĭameron Karch has been a part of the communications industry since 1983, specializing in voice and data protocols. Browne Memorial Technician of the Year Award. “It’s a great time for earthquake studies because the data is absolutely exploding.Cameron Karch, a fiber-optic technician with the Light Brigade, AFL's education and training division, is the recipient of the International ETA’s Norris R. “It’s a privilege to be back here, knowing some of the most famous people worked here, but at the same time we’re always trying to redefine seismology, we keep looking for new technologies to make the network even better, from satellites to artificial intelligence,” Zhan said. Zhan said a collaborative “learn more, do better” attitude at Caltech can move mountains, or at least help scientists fine-tune their understanding of the Earth. Closer to today’s timeline, seismologist Lucy Jones continues to serve as a visiting associate in geophysics at Caltech. That was the time Hugo Benioff invented instruments for detecting seismic waves, and Charles Richter and Ben Gutenberg collaborated on what became known as the Richter Scale for measuring an earthquake’s magnitude. Zhan is mindful of the seismological footsteps he is following at Caltech, where modern earthquake seismology was born in the 1920s and ‘30s. “We may be the only regional network trying to integrate that kind of a signal into our traditional dense broadband seismic network through different research projects with faculty,” Gurnis said in a campus article celebrating the lab’s centennial last November. Mike Gurnis, director of the Caltech Seismological Laboratory, called Zhan’s research a key pillar in the Seismo Lab’s priorities. Seismologists have always wanted better and more sensors to study earthquakes, and fiber sensing with telecom cable is just a perfect fit.” The new thing here is to use the technology to study earthquakes. “People quickly realized that environmental perturbations could cause problems in communication,” he added. The idea of using optical fibers to sense the environment came in the ‘70s and ‘80s, when fiber optics started, Zhan said. The National Science Foundation paid for the study. They include Jiaxuan Li, first author Nadia Lapusta, professor of mechanical engineering and geophysics at Caltech graduate student Teaho Kim and scientist Ettore Biondi. The Zhan Group spent about four years on this research. “Better understanding can help a lot in our preparations for earthquakes, our knowledge about kinds of earthquakes and gives us a higher chance of capturing quakes.” “Using fiber optic cable as a series of seismometers reveals aspects of earthquake physics that have long been hypothesized but difficult to image,” Zhan said. This array acts as individual seismometers and gives earthquake scientists details on the motion of seismic waves. The team used laser emitters to shoot light through the cables, which have tiny defects every few meters that reflect a part of the light to the source. Zhan and colleagues studied a section of the fiber-optic cable using DAS, or distributed acoustic sensing. This week, Zhan and a four-member team published a study in the journal Nature, reporting success in piggybacking off underground fiber-optic cables in Pasadena to detect temblors at a higher resolution, parsing intricate details of the earthquake. That fascination led Zhan to Caltech, where he earned his doctorate in geophysics in 2014, and where he now teaches geophysics. “I knew I was interested in earth science, but when I saw how the entire community was mobilized to study that quake within a few days, how we were able to learn a lot, I was amazed by the scientists’ capability to gather so much data without actually going onsite, just by using sensors, to learn more and to help people,” Zhan said. He was an undergrad student in China when a 9.1 magnitude earthquake ruptured the sea floor in the Indian Ocean, generating a massive tsunami that killed 230,000 people. Zhongwen Zhan, 36, can trace one watershed moment in his life to a literal earth-shaking event. 11/10/2023 0 Comments Rails clothing labelIn short, the perfect wardrobe that even celebrities such as Gisele Bündchen, Beyoncé, Kate Moss and Kendall Jenner have already adopted. He was also into video games – specifically Japanese games. I was like, 'Well, I wanna start working on that.'" But still, that's even just a very simple song, but you have to work on it for a long time. And then they finally perfect their craft into something. You wanna immediately write a song like that, but these people have been playing in a crappy band for ten years, writing nothing that gets released. also taught me about that effort that's involved. You realize, 'I could do that as well if I put in the effort to learn it. "Because it almost brings it down to a level that's digestible. "That removed an illusion for me," Johanas says. But he could break it down into simple chords going back and forth – the backbone of songwriting. In his head, he realized the song wasn't all that complex. Even early as a guitar player, Johanas identified the errors in the player's strumming patterns. One day in high school, he was with a friend who was also learning guitar, playing a poor rendition of a Radiohead song. Radiohead was the band that cracked music open for Johanas when he realized it isn't something that just exists. Their standout song, he says, was actually a B-side: "Talk Show Host," originally featured on the soundtrack for Baz Luhrmann's 1996 Romeo + Juliet movie. He then played guitar and sang in a Radiohead cover band. After a couple of years, he took his lessons and re-applied them to guitar. That was too hard, so he picked up bass instead. Eventually, he wanted to play a cooler instrument, so he tried guitar. When he was a kid, he played the alto saxophone in his school's symphonic band. Johanas was always interested in music growing up. So, he deleted his work, moved the stems onto a USB – where they'd sit for more than a decade – and moved on. Johanas, a fan, sitting in his dorm at Brandies University, downloaded the files, dropped them into GarageBand, and then learned the hard way that he had no technical ability to do anything with the treasure trove of music he had. That said, nearly a decade into his career as a game director, Johanas finally feels a bit confident in his abilities. He thought the most difficult and challenging thing about directing a film was getting out of the car. Griffith Award when he said (via Far Out Magazine), "I believe Steven summed it up about as profoundly as you can. Johanas is quoting Stanley Kubrick, who was actually quoting Steven Spielberg during his 1997 acceptance speech for the D.W. Flying by the seat of his pants – making, at least from an outsider's perspective, some baffling decisions (that, to be fair, paid off in spades) – he ended up here with no choice but to get out of the car and be a director every single day. He was just a kid on Long Island, New York, who liked Radiohead and Nine Inch Nails that moved when he saw an opportunity. It's worth mentioning that Johanas had no aspirations of becoming a game developer growing up. So yeah, the hardest part of the day is getting out of the metaphorical car to go into his job at Tango Gameworks and lead video games, such as The Evil Within 2 and the well-received Hi-Fi Rush. "I don't know." Nevertheless, no one can be at that level all the time. To be able to do that, to make that switch, Johanas says you need to be a "weird psychopath." Though he likes to think he isn't a weird psychopath. He has to lead teams, micromanage, make tough decisions, and accept making mistakes – all skills he says he learned without clear guidance. But when he goes to work, he has to be an extrovert. But being a director requires turning a switch in his brain.
